Praised for her “dramatically incisive” stage presence and “lovely mezzo voice", American-Canadian mezzo-soprano Ilanna Starr joins The Atlanta Opera as a Studio Artist for the 2025–26 season. A semi-finalist in the 2024 International Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition, Ilanna is a two-time award winner and regional finalist of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, and has earned awards from the National Opera Association, the National Society of Arts & Letters, and Nuits Lyriques de Marmande, among others.

Ms. Starr's 25/26 season marks her mainstage debut with The Atlanta Opera as Flora in La Traviata. She will also cover Belle in Glass' La Belle et la Bête as well as her beloved Cherubino in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. Other role debuts of the season include L'enfant in Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges at the Tanglewood Music Center and the title role in Handel's Giulio Cesare with Concerts Lachine.
